"Failed to Save Legion" issue

I just tried The Second Go Brigade II but it says Legion uses more generals or troops. Is this sort of an issue?

Solution: Cleared certain generals/troops/legions from my weaker legions.

Legion-related lag

It has become very obvious to me that lag between hits on a raid is far far worse with any of my damage legions than my leveling legion. The major difference between these types of legions for me is the damage legions have slightly more complicated generals (as in, stats are dependent on more variables) and far more complicated troops. The legion gear is basically the same, and what I wear on my profile doesn't matter. So it appears it's not runes, or gear, but generals/troops causing the bulk of lag for me.

I have a suspicion you guys have it coded so that each time I hit, the server freshly calculates the legion power from my setup. Is that correct? Seeing as many people will perform hundreds or thousands of hits without changing their gear, seems like a waste of server resources if that's how it works. I would suggest having the calculation for legion power performed once, on the first hit against a raid.

The server saves time, and now only needs to redo the calculation when legion is changed or edited. There are a number ways that could be accomplished, like having a legion change/edit send a message to the server to let it know. Alternatively, have the client run some algorithm on database values related to every gen/troop in the legion to generate a unique hash, send that hash with each hit, and have the server only recalculate legion power if the hash changes. The server still calculates legion power by itself, so even if someone were to mess with the hash client-side, all they could do is waste server time.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong about how this is set up, in which case there is still a strange issue with my damage legions taking several times longer to register a hit than my leveling legion.

Guster's Fault, Pure's Fix.

Hello Dawn community. It's very apparent that the game is suffering from mass alt creation and mass LSI characters... This is due to the ever so "lovely" Powerful Apologies box and the massive amount of stat points low level players are getting from it. I am here to bring you some news, I have brainstormed and thought of some of the most logical fixes to this.

The Fix

Roleback all players with 100+ LSI back to a reasonable number

No, don't ban them, don't do a whole server role back.. Just role back players that can actually harm the game via LSI that can make them auto to ridiculous levels. Return all SP that was spent on Energy/stamina.

Make the Powerful Apologies be locked under level 101 and make the cap under level 100 set to ~100 LSI.

This will make player's have to EARN their LSI not to mention they wont be able to have crazy high stats. We already have the technology to do this so it wont be an issue.

Put a nerf on the magic to only drop on 20 hits

This will ruin LSI builds and unless they are EXTREMLY lucky, they will be forced to level out of range where they can exploit.

Make it so the Power Apologies can only come from the other boxes, not from Guster's itself

This would make the income of SP so reduced that it is next to impossible to abuse it!

Nerf the drop rate of sunken urns

The sunken urns are giving high level TOO MANY HONOR POTS! This is a huge issue as players are able to get ridiclous amounts of free pots. Please, nerf the drop rate to 3% or so.

This will fix the LSI issue, but, we will have players with insanly high BSI. In order to not have chaos throughout the player base, make level specific leader boards for each level bracket so that players can still be on the leaderboards and not below level 102 alts with 500 BSI due to books!

This magic is 100% fine in terms of functionality after level 100 and I Encourage
the use of it. Please, 5pg. Listen to my above fixes and the game will run smoothly!

Yet another Guster Suggestion.

So, we all know the whole Guster's Fault fiasco will have a fix come in of some sort. The shape it takes is obviously open to debate. But this is about something far more important.

WE MUST HAVE AN APOLOGY FROM GUSTER!!!!

Seriously, when this get's fixed, I expect a long post from Guster apologizing for how he ruined everything. I DEMAND SATISFACTION!!!!

Guster's Fault (the magic, mostly)

Greetings community!

At the time of my response yesterday, we didn’t have any plans to adjust Guster’s Fault, but since then I’ve received an enormous amount of feedback both in World Chat and in the forums that many players are understandably concerned about the state of this magic. Reviewing data we have collected since yesterday and combining it with your feedback, we are going to make some short term adjustments to the magic today with the idea that we’ll make bigger, long term changes hopefully as soon as tomorrow’s regular maintenance.

  • Changes in today’s build:
  • We’re removing the ability to receive Powerful Apologies boxes
  • We’re adjusting the drop rate of Random Apologies boxes to be lower
  • We’re removing any consumable that’s above the quality of Orange from the remaining boxes

Now, we’re aware that this is a pretty extreme cut to the usefulness of the magic, but, as many of you have pointed out, the magic in its current form is essentially game-breaking, which is why we’re applying this fix right now with the knowledge that it’s a short term ‘bandaid’. We want more time to explore a couple of options that you’ve suggested and we’ve discussed, but we also want to get a fix in sooner rather than later, so this buys us some additional time.

  • Long-term changes we’re exploring:
  • We’re going to bring the Powerful Apologies back, but we’ll likely reduce their drop rate a tad and are likely to remove anything above Orange or, at least above Red from dropping
  • We’re discussing making boxes only drop from x20 hits
  • Other options yet to be fully discussed

We’re aiming to ensure that Guster’s Fault is a novelty item with some legitimate usefulness, but not make it so good that it completely trumps other areas of the game and the rest of the content. There are a lot of possibilities for this magic, so it’s hard to nail down the specifics of everything we may ultimately change about it at this time. Per the name of the item, Guster is quite apologetic for the shenanigans this magic has caused.

Thanks you, adventurers.

Guster's Fault From a New Player's POV

There's a lot of posts about Guster's Fault already and with good reason however I'm talking about something else.

To put this in perspective, I am a new player to DotD. I've spent some money, about $20 (or so) so not really that much. My 'age' is 19 days and I'm just about to reach level 500. This is from an autoleveling guide and recently Orphan's Drake, managed to get quite a few levels from that to be honest. Think I was about 425(?) when it started. Anyway, my point is that Guster's Fault has ruined DotD for me, not to the point where I'll just give up and quit but to the point where I've lost all care for the game. I play DotD as I like the type of game that it is and I was having fun - note: was - but with Guster's Fault it's basically just ruined the mood for DotD. I've put time and money into DotD but now due to an exploit people are reaching crazy stats which (in my opinion) should not be obtainable this quickly. A lot of these people have made an alt account and abused this exploit.

Where's the fun of that? It's ruined the feel, the mood of DotD, what's the point of continuing? My personal point now is because it's a nice pastime, it gives me something to do. Before this, I was actually excited about getting new and awesome gear so I could have that feel of progression and getting stronger, that's now gone. I have Guster's Fault and it did give me a nice boost to my stats which is a good thing (due to some 'elitism' talk in the WC it's a good thing) but I didn't exploit it, I actually looked on the Wiki what the Box even was! Then later I found out it was being exploited to people who have 10-40k of Energy or Stamina and aren't even level 90. It's quite ridiculous and such a slap in the face that it's not funny.

I have here a screenshot of the current (20/5/2016) Leaderboard for Overall Stats on the server I play. I want you to just take a moment and look at it.
http://i.imgur.com/SCpQQ06.png

Just take a moment to see the difference between 1st and 2nd place. The 'top player' has abused this exploit and for our viewing pleasure has shared his/her stats.
http://i.imgur.com/fvGJMLH.png

According to the WC, the 'top player' is also an alternate account. This is but an example of evidence of what is happening, the leaderboard is viewable by anyone and it was the player who shared a link to a screenshot of their stats in WC.

Now, according to the ToS (bringing us to another point I wish to bring up) there are two points that I shall copy and paste for ease;
Quote:

  • engage in cheating or any other activity deemed by 5th Planet to be in conflict with the spirit or intent of the Games.
  • create more than one personal profile.

The first point has indeed happened and so has the second, I cannot confirm for the top player, according to WC it did appear that were the case. However, that's not to say that there are more players who have breached both points of the ToS. Now, what is going to be done? These players have broken the ToS and according to the ToS the accounts would be terminated or so it reads. Something should be done to any account that has abused this exploit as it has breached the ToS even more so if the account is an alternate.

Another thought crossed my mind after someone mention it in WC is that something like this is what happens when the game is going to shut down.

There are many other players who feel the same (or similar) as well, I honestly wonder what their motivation for continuing to play is. If I were in the shoes of someone who's spent many days/weeks/months/years and money to get to where I am, only to have this exploit happen, then I'd furious and stop playing, probably also provide some hateful thread as well.

Bosso Twinklefingers (General: Gnome / Any / Any)
Quote:

As you watch Bosso wander through his workshop, it occurs to you that he isn't as young as he once was. The mad gnome is aging, and as far as you're aware he has no heirs or family. As much chaos as his toys have caused, it makes you sad to think that his legacy might one day be lost.

"Who will you leave your workshop to when it's time to retire, Bosso?" you ask.

He snorts and tightens a bolt on a work in progress, something with dragonfly wings made of glass or crystal.

"Retire? That's for lesser craftsmen. When it's time, I'll just create a life-sized duplicate to store my soul in and carry on making my toys. There we are," he says, and gives the winged toy an affectionate pat.

You chuckle at the thought of a clockwork Bosso puttering about, creating new hazardous toys for all eternity.

But for once, Bosso isn't laughing.

New level based consumables

$

This idea was one I posted on the Guster's Fault thread over in news. Posted here as a suggestion thread for comments/improvements at request.

Add new level based att/def/perc/sp drops (which if put in the Guster's boxes solves the issue of overpowering low level players).

Orange: Adds 1 att/def/perc per level for 4 hours or 1 SP per 5 levels.
Purple: Adds 1 att/def/perc per 2 levels for 4 hours, or 1 SP per 10 levels.
Blue: Adds 1 att/def/perc per 3 levels for 4 hours, or 1 SP per 15 levels.

and so on.

At level 1k for an Orange drop, that's 1000 att/def/perc for 4 hours, or 20% less than an Orange pot would give, and 200 SP or 40 more than an Orange book would give. Which isn't going to be game breaking.

At level 2500 for Orange, that's 2500 att/def/perc or 500 SP, or the equivalent of a Bronze pot and midway between a Red and Bronze book. Again, not game breaking.

At level 5000 for Orange, that's 5000 att/def/perc or 1000 SP, the equivalent of a Gold pot and midway between a Bronze and Silver book.

The fact that for SP books the value decreases relatively at higher levels means that higher levels would still be better off farming elites for SP, while lower levels would get a needed, but not overpowered, boost.

In addition to that, add in level based resource pots.

Small: Restores 1 SP of a bar per 50 levels (one of the three, not all three)
Medium: Restores 1 SP of a bar per 20 levels
Large: Restores 1 SP of a bar per 10 levels
Huge: Restores 1 SP of a bar per 5 levels

At level 1000, that's 20/50/100/200 SP worth of a bar, not a whole lot, esp compared to a volatile, but still a reasonable amount.

At level 2500, that's 50/125/250/500 SP worth of a bar.

At level 5000, that's 100/250/500/1000 SP worth of a bar.

So the amounts are modest, esp compared to a volatile for a specialized build. But more useful than the fixed amount pots.

Could even add a Volatile, which is 1 SP worth per level. Which is still only 1/7 of the player's total bars, compared to 1/4 of a single bar for a regular volatile (and could be as much as 1/6 of the player's total bars for a specialized build). Where this would make a major difference, though, is the H Volatile, which would restore the player's base H (a much more useful Volatile than the current H Vols, so if it would need to be dropped singly instead of in the 2:1 ratio current H Vols get dropped/sold in compared to E/S).

Hire a player as an advisor

This might fit more into suggestions tab, but i feel like it's a good discussion point aswell.

You seriously, seriously need to consider hiring a player or two to discuss new stuff releases before airing (not even for money, i bet there would be free volunteers or ones that would go for small-pc rewards).

Believe me, if any intelligent and active player that spent at least couple of months and is close to immortal would see things you implement, we would avoid ALL of your failures until now.

Myself when i came back from work and seen what that gifts drop, i knew it's a disaster. Me, and many other people had the same thoughts about omer's collar for example. "It's too good to be true" they said, exactly the same happened with this magic. A player can think of tons of ways to abuse new stuff if opportunity comes, you, as a devs? Apparently not.

Don't get me wrong, but you simply do not have the sense about the game as some players do. Mouse, you wrote it yourself at some point, that you monitored the magic, and you do not consider any changes yet. That was until you got a flood of people complaining about high lsi players and people getting tons of pots warning you about inflation.

I actually asked you once about that, do you have someone playing the game actively, that advises you about what you want to implement. I didn't get an answer, but if you do, then sorry but he's plain stupid. If you don't, then better consider doing it. I really do not want to see an more failures like that spoiling the game and breaking it bit by bit, spilling the bitterness over the players.

I have been unable to get past the "connecting" screen for 48+ hours now. I have tried everything on 2 different computers with no success. I believe it is related to our network. Here is our situation - we live in the country and the only/best option for internet is using our phones to connect. We have at&t and this has never been an issue until now. While everything else fine , no 5th planet games work. Has anyone else had this issue and do you have any ideas ? As I said everything else is fine just not Dawn.
I have sent a ticket and they say all is fine on their end.

To 5pg

Ever since this game went money hungry and lost its first truck load of big spenders, the little guys have suffered. In the beginning a person could be banned for having multiple accounts which allowed them to build stats faster than those without multiple accounts. Multiple accounts made it so people wouldn't have to spend as much. Now though, farming has far surpassed the multiple account issue giving people nearly 1000x more ability to gain stats and making it far less necessary to spend on pots which in turn causes an inflation in prices passed on to all. That's the real game-breaker. This game already resorts to trickery to try to force purchases and the inevitable is coming. This game will implode. It's unfortunate, I've been with this game from day one and I have seen all the devastating changes. I stopped all facebook games in order to enjoy this game to the fullest. Now I just wait for the day I sign in to a blank page.
Guster's fault is yours. I knew it was to good to be true and I knew farmers would complain as well that the little people here would level faster than they did and cause a potential threat to their names being on top of a clicker games list. Fix it as you wish, it was free and did and does require a nerf to protect game support only. However, I paid for bosso on the original terms, if you lower its abilities then you need to make a massive refund and consider it a freemium and not a premium. Otherwise don't touch it!
Also, I have complained for years about forced purchases when going through stamina and energy bars that had the pop up to purchase more but no safety for accidental clicks. I see that's now been fixed with an added trickery. If I weren't paying attention I would not have noticed you reversed the yes no buttons. It is standard throughout this game, yes on the left, no on the right. So people not realizing this game cannot be trusted will automatically click on yes trusting that the game is consistent and not out to steal funds with a slick button reversal. That's the same as having no safety and it remains as it always has, a theft.
I used to have a weekly expense on this game, now I spend only on rare occasions like Bosso and little tid bits here and there.
I began with you, I have watched you grow, I have supported you and I will still be here to the end. I have also watched you change for the worse, I have watched trickery, witness the whole exodus of more than half my friends leaving due to your disrespect for the player and now I can only hope you have the decency enough to give us ample warning before the entire game goes the way of the greedy junk yard. Your arrogance in believing this game is worth $1000's per person just to sit there for hours and do nothing but click, possibly see our name on a list that holds no value, look at cool pictures and collect picture items that cannot be traded and still deemed rare? It's destroying the game and is a sad use of brain matter my friends.
All this I have mentioned as a whole is the true game breaker, not entirely Guster's Fault. Greed takes such a hold that it normally takes a crushing end before it allows you to see past its veil, I certainly hope you get past that veil before it's too late. At this point I'll be thankful for your demise yet I'd rather enjoy the game equally with someone new as well as with someone old like myself, the gap is far too immense and most game benefit is one sided. . I still sport my Facegamer's shirt in vanity as I was once proud to be a part of all that and would gladly return to that if it ever became possible.

LSI Change

Greetings, adventurers!

With the today’s patch (5/20/16) we’re going to implement a change to the way LSI works for players below level 100 but this change will impact other players who are above 100 as well.

Currently
At the moment, we don’t enforce a 7 LSI until level 101. This means that prior to level 101 you can raise your LSI to large numbers if you have enough raw stats to invest. The result of this allows that player to level at an expedited pace but has the negative impact of severely damaging the account until they outlevel their crazy LSI and it comes back down to 7; some of these problems include looting issues, locking up during minibosses, and a plethora of other problems.

Admittedly the majority of the reason we’re wanting to change the way this works is because the Guster’s Fault magic. This allowed new accounts to raise their LSI to staggering levels, therefore allowing them to quickly and effortlessly bypass the efforts of many players who did not enjoy such an advantage. However, a change in this area has the added benefit of fixing some accounts and giving us a very easy and consistent way to expect how every player in the game might level up, allowing us to take a better look at the overall leveling experience. But I digress, let’s discuss what’s changing.

The Change
Starting with the build today we’re going to add an LSI cap of 60 for any player below level 101. This will allow a new player to still have a bit of an advantage early on, but is easy for them to outlevel their LSI and bring it down to 7 not long after level 101.

In addition to this we’re going to take away all of the Energy and Stamina players with LSI above 60 have spent in the game and return them to starting levels of 5 Stamina and 30 Energy. We’re also going to refund those same players the appropriate amount of raw Stat Points so they can distribute it accordingly; they can reinvest into Stamina and Energy but will hit the 60 or 7 LSI caps depending on their level.

Stat Points Given = [Energy - 30] + [Stamina - 5]*2

Why change the LSI cap below 101?
We’ve been considering this problem for some time, but it wasn’t until the Guster’s Fault magic that we truly felt it got out of hand. It’s something that was a possibility before, but became a necessity; this will also fix several broken accounts and hopefully reduce the number of support tickets we receive for some of the issues brought about by an LSI above 7.

Why are you giving the SP back?
Because while we don’t want to diminish the efforts of players who got where they are without the “assistance” of the Guster’s Fault magic, the players with above 7 and 60 LSI still earned their Stat Points by hitting raids and completing activities within the game. It didn’t make sense to us to not allow them to redistribute those stat points accordingly; they’ll benefit from other advantages with Attack and Defense but the impact is considerably smaller than the impact their Energy and Stamina had.

Leveling is so annoying, this made it a lot more pleasant, it sucks to lose this advantage
That’s a separate issue that we’re not ignoring. We’ve heard for a long time that you find the leveling experience to be very frustrating in Dawn and we will be taking a closer look at that going forward.

This isn’t a guarantee that there will be some radical, sweeping change but it does open several doors allowing to potentially make changes if we feel it’s for the health of the game.

But Guster’s Fault is useless now!
This post focuses on the LSI change, any discussion about Guster’s Fault should be redirected to the appropriate thread found here.

How will this impact new players?
A typical player coming into Dawn shouldn’t feel a major difference early on. Most players don’t get really high LSI without knowing very specific steps to make it happen. Part of why we chose 60 LSI was to ensure a brand new player can invest adequately into their Energy or Stamina so they may continue to experience Dawn and progress their character.

Loyalty Familiars in a better way

This patch introduced loyalty familiars for 1 and 3 years. While in concept this is nice, a person who logged on 3 years ago and never logged back on until yesterday would receive both for having played three days (since I'm assuming it checks the character's age and not the number of days that a character has actually been played). What might work better is that since we now have pitchfork tokens as a sort of count of how many days a character has actually been played, have a new craft available for loyalty familiars. 365 tokens crafts to a new Loyalty Chest Year 1 containing the 1 year loyalty familiar, the current hero chest, and 65 tokens (so you aren't actually losing the tokens, just getting a hero chest and a free familiar). So you have to save for an entire year instead of just 300 days for the chest, but you still get back the 65 extra tokens plus the familiar for doing so.

Then you can add a craft using 365 tokens and the 1 year familiar to get the Loyalty Chest Year 2, containing a chest, 65 tokens, the year 1 familiar and the year 2 familiar. And so on. With this method, you can even have the different "Loyalty Year Chests" give different hero chests, so the year 2 chest would give a hero chest 2, and so on. Or even add additional gifts like potion bundles or PC as a bonus for saving for that entire year.

Granted, people who have already used tokens would complain, but they did already get what they crafted, and it's no different really from adding new crafts to repeat WRs. And people who have been daily players from long before pitchfork tokens were introduced would lose out on a reward for those days of yesteryear. But at least they'll all now have something else to look forward to, and it rewards current players for staying and playing.
